2009 AIBD Convention
Notes:
AIBD 2009/2010 Board of Directors Meeting
The following is a report from the recent AIBD
convention this month.
The four main actions of this years Board were:
The Election of new Officers:
Dan F. Sater, II (FL) President
Alan Kent (TX) Internal Vice-President
Viki Wooster (OR) External Vice-President
Kerry Dick (TX) Secretary/Treasurer
Paul Cole (SC) Eastern District Director
Ron Ressler (MI) Central District Director
David Ludwig (AZ) Western District Director
Secondly, the Board requested that the 2010 Convention,
originally slated for Michigan, be moved to 2011. Due to the recession and
the low attendance at the Portland convention, convention planners requested
the opportunity to host 2010s meeting in an effort to recoup some of the
financial loss.
Next the N.C.B.D.C. Council proposed an increase of the
current $75.00 fee for AIBD Designers, to $195.00. AIBD will continue to
track CEUs and offer discounts for taking the test and help boost
membership.
Lastly, and probably most momentous is the merger of
the AIBD-DC with the AIBD-CA. AIBD-CA will be absorbed into AIBD-DC forming
one stronger non-profit corporation. This action should benefit the entire
AIBD organization.
On a more personal note, the membership report
reflected a 27.27% increase in Louisianas AIBD making us the leader of all
AIBD state societies! Congratulations Louisiana! Unfortunately, due to
the down turn in the economy all of the other states with the exception of
Iowa, the North East group and Pennsylvania showed a dramatic decline in
membership. However with the increased membership in these four groups, the
2009-2010 budget has been met by 130.40%.
And finally, we would like to welcome Athea-Anne Lee as
the newest member of our national AIBD Staff. Ms. Lee will be assisting
Steve Mickley and answering your phone calls in our Washington, DC office.
Ms. Lee is a native of Covington, Louisiana and is looking forward to
meeting each of you.
